Dashavatara- Welcome the incarnations of Lord Vishnu in you

Garbhasanskar is a science as well as an art. The process of Garbhasanskar starts the moment a couple decides to bring a progeny to this world. The couple has to carry the responsibility of inviting a divine soul to a womb that is spiritually and physically healthy. As Parents, they have to be mindful about raising the child from the time they decide to have a baby. Their positive thoughts and healthy routine imbibes positivity, confidence, health and brilliance in the unborn child such that these qualities become second nature of the child once it is into the world. A child nurtured in such an environment grows up to be a sensible and responsible being. With this prelude let us plunge into the divine journey of gestation and understand how we invoke the incarnations of Lord Vishnu during each month of pregnancy.

Matsyavatara: The first month of gestation.

During the first month of our pregnancy, after an egg has been fertilized and implants into the uterine lining, a sac grows around it. This becomes the amniotic sac and will hold the amniotic fluid and cushion the embryo. The placenta also forms during this month. This will bring nutrition and support to the baby from the mother. The baby is in the liquid amniotic sack during the first month and hence is referred to as Matsyavatara.

Kurmavatara: The second month of gestation.

During the second month of pregnancy, the baby's face continues its development. Buds that will eventually be limbs begin to develop. Organs such as the brain, sensory organs, and the digestive tract begin to take shape. The cartilage in the embryo begins to be replaced by bone. During Kurmavatara, Lord Vishnu takes the avatar of a Tortoise, which is an amphibian. Like how amphibians spend their early part of their life in water( like tadpoles of frogs), the human baby also spends the initial part of their life in water. The baby is floating in the liquid yet attached to the placenta.

Varaha Avatara- The third month of gestation.

The limbs, as well as the hands, feet, fingers, and toes, become well developed. The fingernails and toenails begin to form. The external ears and teeth begin their development as well. The first trimester is considered to be the most important period, because utmost care has to be taken to prevent any miscarriages. During Varaha, Lord Vishnu takes the avatar of a wild boar. The third month of gestation is compared to Varaha, because chances of miscarriage is very bright during this period and a lot of rituals are performed inorder to prevent it.

Narasimha Avatara- The fourth month of gestation.

Hair, eyelids, eyelashes, and nails become well developed. The heartbeat is now clear. The teeth become denser, and the baby begins to stretch, yawn and make other movements. Until the 3rd month, the mother’s body will not accept the baby and the baby will be treated as a foreign object, it is only from the fourth month onwards, the mother’s body accepts the baby and the mother will undergo acceptance syndrome. As a result of this, the mother becomes over sympathetic and over sensitive to everything. A mother's senses are extremely tender. during this phase and the temperature of the body rises too. This is nature's way of cooling the Narasimha avatar in you. The mother is emotionally very fragile during this month and the Garbhasanskar training helps the mother to overcome this emotional turmoil gracefully and attend to her physical and psychological needs. If this is not catered to then the probability of a child being aggressive is high.

Vamana Avatar- The fifth month of gestation.

This month you may start to feel the baby move. Hair growth continues on the baby’s head and body. The shoulders and back become covered with a thin hair called lanugo. A thick substance, called vernix caseosa, covers the skin to keep it protected from the exposure to amniotic fluid. This layer will shed before the baby is born. Vamana, the civilized baby, appears out of the wild beast during this month. There will be enormous development in the brain and several neural connections will also develop during this month. The presence of the child is felt by the mother and the child on the other hand will pick up various sensations.

Parashurama Avatara: The Sixth month of gestation.

His or her fingerprints and toe prints become well developed. The baby’s eyelids become parted, and the eyes can be opened. Your baby will respond to external stimuli such as sounds by increasing their pulse or moving. This is when you may experience your baby’s hiccups in jerk-like motions. The food that the mother intakes becomes extremely critical during this period. Parashurama can be controlled only through food. Parashurama is a Guru to Bhishma and he is the Truth,Spirituality, Education, Wisdom and Higher Dharma. During this month the child in the womb is influenced by the characteristics of Parashurama, who is the embodiment of education and wisdom thus sowing the seeds to develop the cognitive ability in the child.

Rama Avatara: The Seventh month of gestation.

During this month, your baby will continue to grow and develop the existing organs and systems. At this stage, hearing ability is fully developed and understands everything spoken outside the womb. A classic example is Abhimanyu, Son of Arjuna from the epic Mahabharata. The baby will react to sound, pain, and light and often change position. The amount of amniotic fluid that cushions the baby begins to decrease as the baby grows larger. Seemantham is a ritual to bless pregnant women, fulfill her desires and pray for a safe delivery and a healthy child. This is mainly done during this period to celebrate and welcome Lord Rama, characterizing a civilized man, so that the baby acquires the qualities of Lord Rama.

Krishna Avatara: The Eighth month of gestation.

The baby continues to mature during this month, experiencing a rapid development of the brain. The baby can see at this stage and will begin to kick more. Most of the internal organs and systems are fully developed. At this stage, the child is the embodiment of Lord Krishna and is fully prepared to come out. We humans take 8 months to nurture the Lord himself. Isn't it a privilege to bear one?. Isn't it our responsibility to give the Lord to the Society? The “Lokodharaka”!!
